Ryan W. Bigelsen, DO is a rheumatologist who is excited to be part of the Middletown Medical team upon joining our practice in October 2024.
Dr. Bigelsen graduated from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018 before going on to complete his medical internship and residency in internal medicine at Bayonne Medical Center in New Jersey in 2022. Most recently Dr. Bigelsen finished his rheumatology fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown PA in July 2024, where he gained expertise in diagnosing and treating a vast array of rheumatic conditions in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.
Dr. Bigelsen believes in treating his patients as individuals and human beings first and foremost in order to tailor an optimal treatment plan to each patient. He believes that by taking the time to understand an individual’s needs within the context of his or her medical condition we can optimize patient outcomes and foster a healthy doctor-patient relationship.
Dr. Bigelsen has experience in treating the spectrum of rheumatic and inflammatory conditions including but not limited to RA, osteoarthritis, SLE, gout, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, enteropathic arthritis, infectious and lyme arthritis, vasculitis, and Sjogren’s syndrome.
Some of his recent accomplishments include multiple publications and academic posters presented at regional conferences, heading a quality improvement project to improve osteoporosis outcomes, and presenting a poster at the American College of Rheumatology national conference in 2023.
He is a proud member of professional organizations including the American College of Rheumatology and the American Medical Association, and is board-certified in internal medicine.
