Middletown Medical is pleased to announce its ‘Pearls for Mammograms’ program. All women that schedule a mammogram, starting this month, will receive a pink freshwater pearl after their mammogram. Each pearl symbolizes their commitment to their health and their future. As the years progress, a pearl necklace or bracelet can be strung and worn proudly.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 and older have a mammogram every year, and should continue to do so for as long as they are in good health. Mammograms, low-dose X-rays of the breasts, are used for screening and diagnostic purposes. The images can reveal cancer before a lump is even detectable, although a biopsy will also be required to confirm the presence of cancer.
