Middletown Medical, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of healthcare services, has announced the addition of their new interventional cardiologist Dr. Rishi Bajaj. Dr. Bajaj is trained as a general cardiologist as well as an interventional cardiologist, treating cardiovascular diseases including coronary heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and structural heart conditions via catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.
“Dr. Bajaj has a very impressive background in cardiology that includes excellent patient care, research, and teaching,” said Melissa Wolff, Middletown Medical’s Marketing Director, and Physician Recruiter. “Even more, his dedication to interventional cardiology means our patients can benefit from additional non-surgical alternatives to treat many heart conditions.” He is American board certified in internal medicine, general cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular medicine.
Dr. Bajaj completed his general cardiology fellowship at Saint Vincent Hospital affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Before completing his cardiology fellowship, he taught resident physicians and medical students at Saint Vincent Hospital. Dr. Bajaj completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at Cooper University Hospital, where over 7,000 procedures are performed annually in its state-of-the-art digital cardiac catheterization laboratories.
Dr. Bajaj is trained in coronary interventions, structural heart disease (including transcatheter aortic valve replacement [TAVR]), and peripheral arterial interventions. He also has specialty training in treating venous diseases via catheter-based interventions. Many of these venous procedures are performed on an outpatient basis with advanced techniques. Dr. Bajaj is also certified in procedures including central venous line placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, thoracocentesis, and abdominal paracentesis.
Dr. Bajaj, who is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Spanish, graduated from the University College of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He has extensive research experience involving heart problems and procedures. Dr. Bajaj has co-authored 14 medical publications and is a member of the Delhi Medical Council, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and Massachusetts Medical Society. He is an active member of the Red Cross carrying out social awareness programs.
