Dr. El-Khayat obtained both his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine and his Doctor of Medicine from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria. He completed his residencies at Mouassat University Hospital and Harasta Hospital in Damascus, Syria and MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. He completed his surgical residency at St. Clare's Hospital and Health Center of New York University in New York, N.Y. Dr. El-Khayat also completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Clare's Hospital and Health Center of New York University in New York, N.Y., where he served as Chief Resident. He also completed a Board-review intensive course in ophthalmology at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in New York, N.Y.
