Sonya McMillan, MSN, FNP-BC, RN-BC, IBCLC is a family nurse practitioner providing care with Middletown Medical’s Rheumatology Division. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Over the span of her career, Mrs. McMillan has worked in a variety of medical settings, including primary care, orthopedics, pediatrics, and gynecology/obstetrics. She also holds over 11 years’ experience as a registered nurse (RN), where she served patients in the specialities of same day surgery, bariatric, oncology, medical-surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, rehabilitation, pediatrics, and mother-baby couplet care.

Prior to her current role, Mrs. McMillan worked locally treating patients in the Rheumatology Department at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y.

Mrs. McMillan earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. where she was the Recipient for the 2019 Sigma Award for Excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in North Brunswick Township, N.J. where she was awarded President’s Honors; and her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from SUNY Orange in Middletown, N.Y. where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

In addition to her certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP), Mrs. McMillan is also certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She also holds certifications in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.

She is currently accepting new patients.
