Melissa Wixon is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She brings more than 20 years of clinical experience to Middletown Medical, with a strong background in cardiology and bedside nursing.
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Melissa spent over 18 years in cardiology at Garnet Health Medical Center and, before that, two years as a medical-surgical nurse at Arden Hill Hospital. Throughout her career, she has held multiple leadership and mentorship roles, including charge nurse, preceptor for new staff, and Chair of the Magnet Committee at Garnet—where she helped lead the facility to achieve Magnet Certification.
Melissa is also a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) and maintains active BLS and ACLS certifications. In addition, she has served as an adjunct clinical instructor at SUNY Orange, teaching and mentoring future nurses.
Her academic journey began with an Associate Degree in Nursing from SUNY Orange. She went on to earn dual bachelor's degrees in nursing and business management, followed by a master's in nursing, and most recently, a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from Utica University in 2023.
Melissa has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations throughout her career, including Daisy Award nominations, “Good Catch” awards for advancing patient safety, and Shining Star recognition for excellence in patient care. She is an active member of both the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Melissa will be seeing patients in the Cardiology Department at Middletown Medical.
