Dietican & Diabetes Educator Kristine Bihun, R.D.N., C.D.E., Program Coordinator, Diabetes Treatment and Education Center, is quick to note some of the many benefits in eating peas:
1) Can help in weight loss management;
2) Can bring down the level of bad cholesterol;
3) Can help reduce the risk of stomach cancer . . .
So add them to salads, mash them into a paste, steam them, boil them, eat them raw, garnish your favorite dish with them! . . .
BUT remember that a serving size of 1/2 cup, even though beneficial, contains calories and carbohydrates.
